Eric finally proposed to Brenda in the latest episode, but with his illness, fans think their happily ever after might not last

Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out that tragedy may be in store for Eric and Brenda after he proposed to her.

During the latest episode of Emmerdale, Eric took time away from trying to stop Caleb’s business to talk face-to-face with Brenda. He revealed that he had been ill recently as the result of new medicine to treat his Parkinson’s Disease.

However, he continued to downplay the symptoms and said he just didn’t want to burden people. Brenda reassured him and talked about how she wanted to support him.

Eric became emotional, and got down on one knee and finally proposed to her. An overwhelmed Brenda agreed, and Eric was left happy.

He got up to get some champagne to celebrate, but his hand was shaking from his Parkinson’s. He reassured Brenda that this was just because he was so happy.

However, fans of the show think this might not end happily for the pairing, as Eric gets progressively more ill.

Another fan, @RyanTheSoapking, wrote: “Brenda & Pollard getting married this could lead to Eric dying on his wedding day.”

Many other fans instead were just happy for Eric and Brenda, with @ShakyWoon saying: “Aww Brenda and Eric!”
