Coronation Street viewers were left overjoyed on Wednesday’s episode as past character Becky McDonald was mentioned
Coronation Street fans were thrilled on Wednesday when the character of Becky McDonald, played by Katherine Kelly, was referenced.
Regular viewers will remember that earlier this week, Max Turner was unmasked as the person responsible for the fire at the Platt family’s residence.
Earlier in the month, a catastrophic fire engulfed David and Shona Platt’s home, trapping several residents. Both Max and Toyah Battersby were critically injured and rushed to hospital, but fortunately, they both fully recovered.
The plot took a twist when it was revealed that the fire was deliberately set, leading to the arrest of David and Leanne Battersby as potential suspects.
After viewing CCTV footage of the perpetrator, who was wearing a distinctive black hoodie, Shona immediately recognised the garment as one she had bought Max for Christmas, reports Lancs Live.

In Wednesday’s episode, Shona, David and Max discovered that the police had found Max’s hoodie, which he had thrown away in a nearby bin, causing the young lad to fear for his future.
Later, when the police arrived, it was disclosed that Max had fled from home, with Shona aiding his escape as he could potentially face a long prison sentence.
As the episode concluded, David revealed he had arranged for Max’s getaway, explaining that he had spoken to Becky, Max’s aunt, who was willing to take him in.
David calmed his concerned wife Shona’s nerves, saying: “Becky said she’ll have Max. Apparently she’s still shacked up with that Ian bloke, who runs the hotel in Belize. He’s never been one for staying on the right side of the law. Max can go and work for him, cash in hand.”

For fans who’ve been following the soap for a long time, Becky is a familiar face, but if you’re new to the show, lets catch you up. Becky arrived on the scene in 2005 and was taken in by Roy Cropper and his late wife Hayley, being offered a job at Roy’s Rolls and somewhere to live.
Following a rollercoaster relationship and marriage with Steve McDonald, Becky eventually left in 2012, fleeing to Barbados to start anew after settling scores with her romantic rival Tracy Barlow and former spouse Steve.
It’s worth noting Becky’s connection to Max as she’s his aunty through her sister Kylie Platt, who was Max’s mother. The death of Kylie in 2016 left her children, Max and Lily, in the care of David.
Prior to Kylie’s sad death, the character would often visit sister Becky abroad with Max, Lily and David.
Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
