Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve ‘worked out’ the true identity of newcomer Lou Michaelis – and it’s nothing to do with her being a ‘nightmare neighbour’
Corrie enthusiasts reckon they’ve cracked the case on Lou Michaelis’ real identity – and it turns out she’s kin to a Weatherfield icon. In January, the Street announced the arrival of newbies Lou (played by Farrel Hegarty) and Mick (Joe Layton), dubbed as “nightmare neighbours” who are set to shake up Mawdsley Street with their antics.
The duo is tipped to wreak “absolute carnage” among the locals, stirring up some explosive storylines. Lou made her first appearance on Wednesday (February 12), giving Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) grief in the corner shop over some nighttime pull-ups.
Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) then bumped into Lou, recognising her from their kids’ school, leading to a budding friendship and drinks at the Rovers. Lou popped up again later in the week, with Mick scheduled to show his face on Friday (February 14).

But fans are buzzing with theories that they’ve sussed out Lou’s true backstory. Online chatter among viewers suggests a bombshell Platt family revelation.
One fan speculated on a Corrie Facebook group: “Lou really reminds me of Shona!” Another fan predicted a hidden sibling plot: “It’ll probably come out that they are related and long-lost siblings!” A third chimed in, noting the resemblance: “I thought that too, they lookalike as well”, reports Plymouth Live.

Fans think Shona and Lou could be related
Speaking about her thrilling new gig as Lou, Farrel Hegarty exclaimed: “I’m delighted and so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. I have genuinely been blown away by how ridiculously warm and nice everyone is.
“Lou is definitely an exciting character to play because she’s got good and bad parts to her, she’s a life force and full of beans.
“She’s a very colourful person who likes to make waves and try to cause chaos. But she also has that strong family loyalty, especially between Mick and Lou, they are thick as thieves and will stick up for each other, even when they probably shouldn’t..”
